Let the IRS do the work for you

If you enjoyed this post,

I was reading the IRS Tax Tip of the day.

You have the choice to opt for direct deposit of your 2007 tax refund if you are eligible.

  • Option to split your refund up to three different accounts.
  • Option to direct deposit your refund to one account.
  • Option to receive a paper check in the mail.

As quoted in Issue #: TT-2008-29

The decision is yours to choose. On the surface, the decision appears to be pretty simple to make. You will get your tax refund one way or the other. The question is whether you want your tax refund sooner or later. If you are still unsure how you want your tax refund, take a moment to be S.M.A.R.T. about this.

Specific

Do you know what you want to do with your check? This is the biggest question to answer.

Your answer will depend on who you are, and what your personal finance situation looks like. If you are a young person, you would be encouraged to put the money away for retirement or tempted to reward yourself for good behavior. If you are a middle-aged person, you may be more inclined to pay down your debt or put money away for retirement. If you are a senior citizen, you may find it more sensible to spend it or invest it wisely in a safe investment vehicle should you outlive your expected years?

  • Do you want to deposit your tax refund into your retirement account?
  • Are you going to make an investment with your tax refund?
  • Are you going to pay down your debt with your tax refund?
  • Are you going to purchase an item with your tax refund?

These are simple questions that may help you be more specific about what you want to do with your tax refund. Once you know what you want to do, it should help you figure out where and how you want your tax refund to be directed.

  3. Note to bloggers, see these two comments by Allen and Susan. Aren’t they very similar or almost exactly the same? These are typical spam comments you will find permeating blogs all over the world with the objective to raise awareness about their own websites.

These websites are known as scrapers, they feed off other websites by copying contents found on authentic blogs and passing it off as their own.

As the owner of my website, I have it in my power to remove these comments. Instead, I will strip these comments of their links so that you can be more aware of these “spam” comments.

  4. Do you have Akismet (antispam) installed? These didn’t fall in that category?

  5. Hank, yes I do have Akismet installed. They still bypassed their spam filters so I wanted to share an example of typical spam comments. Ultimately, I ended up striping the link to these spammer’s website.

I have had a couple other similar spam comments on TheLocoMono Website and those were marked as spam to help Akismet improve their tool. It is a terrific plugin for any WordPress user. Seems to be getting better with each upgrades.
