Net Worth Mini-Statement June 2008
If you enjoyed this post,
In keeping with the trend of reporting my net worth during quarterly statements, I am only going to post a mini-statement for each month as part of an effort to Keep It Simple and Smart.
| Month | Net Worth |
| April | $27,348 |
| May | $28,091 |
| +/- Over Previous Month | $599 |
Summary
Overall, it was a decent month with my budget management. There were some travel expenses to account for that I did not include in my budget because it is still too early for me to set a budget beyond my fixed expenses. With a purchase of a car lease a few days ago, my net worth will drop slightly this month by approximately $500. It is becoming apparent to me that basic expenses such as having a car payment, insurance, and gas will affect the growth rate of my net worth in the coming months.
I will post my 2nd quarterly review next month so we will have a bigger picture of how I managed my net worth’s progress.

Mark - Cars are nothing but huge expenses as you note with lease payment, gas, insurance, maintenance, etc. I am always amazed at how much money we could save per month if my wife and I gave up one of our vehicles (even the one that is paid off!). At this point though we like the convenience of the two vehicles.

Aye, it is convenient to have two vehicles, you could always trade one down to an older model along with less driving which can reduce insurance and gas.
All the more reason to promote public transportation. When I lived in Denver or visited Boston, NYC, it was terribly easy to move around without a car (or at least, with driving less).
