The Banana Roundup : Week 13

If you enjoyed this post,

Whenever possible, I will post a list of the best articles I discovered this week from the PF bloggers on my PF Blogroll. I enjoy reading PF articles that really makes you think about your own personal finances.

My Picks for the Week

Patrick at Cash Money Life he found out that one could get life insurance in the checkout line and explored this topic, Would You Like Some Life Insurance With Those Cheetos? I have to admit, terrific title, it was a riot to find out that a major grocery chain would do anything to make a buck.

Brooke at Dollar Frugal announced that her House Payment Made! 13 Months Left! While I have never owned a house, I can certainly imagine how exciting that must be to know only there is only a few more payments to go. Considering how long a 30-year mortgage takes, I would be taking advantage of paying extra on principle to pay it off sooner than later.

LuluGal over at How I Save Money shared the State of My Credit Cards which isn’t too bad at the moment. From a quick total of her balance, it is feasible for her to pay it off by the end of the year. Just a matter of careful budgeting and planning since she will have some medical bills coming in soon.

Living Off Dividends discovered How To Get A $100,000 MBA Education for $1,267. I am always amazed at how much it cost to get a degree these days when it is just a matter of reading a book and having a discussion about how it applies to the real world.

Moolanomy talked about Real Estate Investing : Return on Investment and Leverage. There is ALWAYS more to what the gurus talk about such as expenses Pinyo listed. I have been doing a lot of reading in this area lately and it is good to see these expenses accounted for.

Saving Diva at Saving For A Home Of My Own really nailed it on the head, literally, with My Hair Downgrades. While I do not get haircuts that often, reading it reminded me of my old days when I used to color my hair like crazy in green, blue, or red. When the colors started fading, I would have to cover it up with a dark brown which is my normal hair color. I never spent $2K a year on hair but I imagine I spent a few bucks going for the punk look.
