The Banana Roundup : Week 14
If you enjoyed this post,
My Picks for the Week
The Dividend Guy showed us an interesting analysis about Returns of Growth Versus Value Stocks. After seeing how large and small value stocks have done well over the years, I am glad I made the decision to expand my small-cap and large-cap value exposure in my investment portfolio. BTW, I just discovered his blog about two weeks ago and highly recommend checking it out if you are interested in expanding your knowledge about stock investments, particularly dividend stocks.
Patrick posted about How to Do a Phone Interview. While I am deaf and can’t literally use the phone, it should come in handy should I get a chance to do some kind of relay interview or online with a future employer using IM.
I enjoyed Dollar Frugal’s use of math’s Order of Operations - Personal Finance. She certainly provided us with a terrific perspective on handling your personal finance, especially debt. Since I only have a laptop balance to pay off and already contribute regularly to my retirement portfolio, my own order of operations is a little more advanced.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Gather Little By Little’s post on What do you think? Should you discuss finances with your children? While I don’t have any kids of my own, it certainly did provide some pennies for thought. One of my own “real world” shocker when I started living on my own was the cost of hearing aids which I have to replace every four to five years at 2K per ear.
SF Gal talks about Going to Israel - For Free! over at Her Every Cent Counts. I certainly did not know about Birthright Israel but I think that is a terrific idea. It would make up for a great history lesson in the form of travel experience if we could all experience visiting our ancestral roots. I grew up wanted to see the magic isle of Ireland and the Bavarian countries of Europe where mine comes from. It would certainly promote stronger values among the younger generations.
How I Save Money announced that she made Fire Finance’s Top 100 Personal Finance Blogs - Ranked by Traffic. I am constantly learning how traffic plays an important role in motivating your blog’s growth. It is curious about the use of Sitemeter, Quantcast, and Compete for the traffic figures. I will have to do further research into this area and see whether I need to add them to Just Personal Finance Ranks. It is an excellent example of how different traffic monitoring sites use their own algorithm.
Living Off Dividends provided us with a breakdown in How I Made $2,667 In Passive Income in March ‘08. I am certainly inspired by this young man’s efforts. I have to be amused because if it was 1908 instead of 2008, he would be a millionaire with that kind of passive income. I am going have to think about setting a target goal for my own passive income.
Pinyo of Moolanomy shared his March 2008 Site and Net Worth Review (-1.01%). Good thing it was only his net worth that dropped a little, not his traffic because that is growing at a better clip than his net worth. It is obvious the stock market is playing a roll in his net worth like it is playing a roll with my own.
Saving Diva of Saving For A Home Of My Own is trying to get tips for Frugal Wooing to woo her boyfriend over. It would be great if you head over and contribute a few tips of your own, this could be a future series of tips in the making. Money may not buy love but I guess love can be cheap frugal.
All righty, that’s it for today. I have been busy over at TheLocoMono Website this past week so I need to finish up a few things before I log off for the night. Hope yall enjoyed this roundup.

Patrick, thanks for the post, it may come in handy for me someday even though I am deaf I can still apply the same rules to a relay call or even instant messaging interviews as some deaf people have done.
